Towradgi Pre-School and Long Day Care Centre caters for ages 2 to 5 years and can supervise up to 40 children per day. Our friendly educators love working with children and provide a safe and fun learning environment. We understand that every child is unique and tailor our early education and Towradgi school readiness programs to suit each child's particular interests.

Throughout each day our educators keep individual records of every child's progress and development. The educators also provide a portfolio to each child every year, which includes developmental records and special work completed by the child. It also includes a half-yearly and end-of-year report. Families can ask to view these at any time.

The centre's program is based on EYLF 2.0 (Early Years Learning Framework) and the new quality framework (NQF). We ensure each child develops in the areas such as:

  • Cognitive social and emotional
  • Literacy and language
  • Experiments (e.g science, cooking)
  • Music and movement (munch and move)

A Helping Hand in Your Child's Education

Age Groups

Children are placed into one of three groups depending on their age and developmental needs. Each group is focused on helping children build self-confidence through play, socialising and experiences important for assisting with their general development. The groups are separated between 10:00am - 2:30pm each day. Outside these hours, the program caters for family grouping where all children complete activities together. Our program includes routine, however has flexibility to accommodate spontaneous experiences.

Starfish Group

The Starfish group is suitable for children between 2 and 3 years of age.

Dolphins Group

The Dolphins group is ideal for children between 3 and 4 years of age.

Whales Group

The Whales group is tailored for children between 4 and 5 years of age.

Pre-Academic School Readiness Program

The transition from centre-based care to a school environment is an important milestone in a child's life. Our School Readiness program helps make the transition as smooth and easy as possible for your child. This program covers social and emotional development as well as self-help skills and building self-confidence. Participation in our school readiness program helps your child feel more confident about making the transition to a school environment and curriculum.

Community Involvement

We are frequently visited by different community groups to showcase new experiences for children. All children of all age groups are given the opportunity to participate. These community groups include:

  • Local fire brigade to teach us about fire safety
  • Dentists
  • Local swim school
  • Matilda's Farmyard
  • Water safety
  • Bi-cultural visits

We often ask families to come in and participate in talking about their jobs or work (such as school teachers, chefs, musicians, etc.) as an experience for the children. This is always welcomed.

Child Care Subsidy

Child care providers must be granted approval under Family Assistance Law to receive CCS on behalf of families. CCS is paid to providers who pass it on to families as a fee reduction. Families make a co-contribution to their child care fees by paying the difference between the provider’s fee and the subsidy amount (also called the out-of-pocket or gap fee).
